Experience

  • Programming Intern: Dates: June 2011 – August 2011. Location: Tiny Mantis.  With another intern, programmed a prototype for an iPad game in iOS 4. Implemented Client-Server network setup utilizing POSIX threads, character behaviors, and gameplay mechanics to demonstrate various aspects of the game being considered.

Selected Projects

  • Warlocks++:  Role Playing Game. April 2011-May 2011. A prototype of an RPG made in a group of two using C++. I  implemented graphics using Direct2D and an XML-based animation system. I also integrated basic Lua scripts using managed C++ with the LuaInterface API. I also implemented a Behavior/Effect system, allowing modularity for testing and balancing of abilities and items.
  • Flight of Chaos: Vertical Scrolling Shooter. March 2010 – May 2010. In a group of four, I programmed player input and File I/O algorithms, a power-up system, and the final boss encounter. I also scheduled meetings, arranged group milestones, and kept the group in communication. I also. This game was programmed in C# using the XNA 3.1 framework.
  • Bullet Boy: Location Defense. November 6, 2010 – November 9, 2010, October 2011. An individual project. Used XML-based waves for level definitions. Also used Craig Reynolds steering behaviors for the enemy AI, with the behaviors used getting progressively more complex as the enemies get tougher. It was developed in ActionScript 3.0 within Adobe Flash CS5.
  • Engine Reconstruction: Summer 2010 – Present. Currently working on reconstructing the engine from a preexisting Gameboy Advanced game series from scratch in C# using the XNA framework. I have currently implemented an animation-triggered event system, and a Behavior/Effect system utilizing the factory design pattern. I have also implemented Lua using LuaInterface to determine enemy behaviors.
  • ViRAL: December 2010 – May 2011. Developed a 2D puzzle survival game for submission to the United States and World Imagine Cup competitions in a four person team. Created a map loader, which creates maps defined in a bitmap file. The game was developed in C# XNA 4.0 for the Xbox 360.
